Essential Oils documentation
We call Essential Oil the very concentrated liquid obtained from a vegetable product through distillation by steam, through dry distillation or through mechanical extraction from zests.
Often, we can collect only a very small amount from a very large mass of raw material.
The distilled parts are:
- the flower or the flower bud (lavender, neroli, rose),
- the zest (lemon),
- the berry (juniper),
- the leaf (petitgrain bigarade, eucalyptus),
- sometimes also the grains (carrot), the root (or rhizome – ginger) or wood (sandalwood, cedar),…
Man has observed and learnt how to use them for their fabulous healing powers.
