The nutmeg tree is a tropical tree that can grow up to 10-12 m high. Only the female plants can bear fruit after 8 years. It has evergreen leaves that are dark green on top and whitish underneath, and its small yellow flowers in clusters resemble those of lily of the valley. Its fruit, the nutmeg, is an egg-shaped capsule that can be eaten once candied or used as a spice when grated.

PRACTICE
External use only
Digestive problems, diarrhoea or intestinal parasitosis: 1 drop EO clove in a teaspoon of VO, then massage the belly after meal. A GP can also recommend to take internally
Fatigue: massage the lower back and along the spine with this essential oil mixed with other essential oils (Black Spruce, Scots Pine…) and diluted in a vegetable oil
Gum inflammation: dilute in water to make a mouthwash or 1 drop on the toothbrush.
Diffusion: mix it diluted at 1-3% with citrus essential oils, it purifies while providing a warm atmosphere
Cooking: to flavour dishes (meat, soups, vegetable purées, omelettes) but also desserts (fruit salad, carrot or citrus cakes, etc.). It can be used to make béchamel sauce and flavour gratin dauphinois or quiche lorraine. In winter, it warms up and fights infections when used as an herbal tea with other spices.

CAUTION

- To be used only for short periods of time (1-week maximum)
- Do not use purely for diffusion, but mix with other oils (part of nutmeg 1-3% maximum)
- Avoid with pregnant or breastfeeding women, also children under the age of 8 and epileptic people.
- As a rule, test the product by applying a little in the crook of your elbow or on your wrist before using it.
- Possible hormonal activity, do not use in case of mastosis or hormone-dependent cancer (breast, ovary, endometrium).
- Dermocaustic oil, always use strongly diluted on the skin.
