St. John’s wort is a herbaceous plant 40 to 60 cm high, widespread in all temperate regions of the world, and very common in France where it grows particularly along roadsides. The flowers of this herb have always been used in balms and ointments to combat gout, rheumatism, burns and to dress wounds.

Do you want to do your own St John’s Worth macerate?

You will need 1 litre of olive, sweet almond or sunflower oil and 100g dried st John’s Worth flowers

• Fill a transparent airtight jar with fresh John’s Worth flowers.
• Cover with a carrier oil and shake
• Place the jar in the sun and stir the contents once a day for 2 to 4 weeks.
  Filter and bottle.

For longer preservation, you can add vitamin E.

USAGE OF ST JOHN’S WORTH INFUSED OIL

PRACTICE

External use only

Mix 30 ml of St. John’s Wort vegetable oil, 30 ml of Jojoba vegetable oil, 50 drops of Geranium essential oil and 4 to 5 drops of vitamin E.

Usage: Apply the mixture to your body after showering or bathing. You can use it occasionally in case of irritation.

95ml St John’s Wort macerate
100 drops wintergreen essential oil
25 drops lavandin essential oil

Usage: Apply the mixture to the sensitive zone. You can use it occasionally in case of irritation. No prolonged used without a medical advice

CAUTION

• Do not use before exposure to the sun (risk of photosensitisation)
• Do not use on pregnant women or young children
• Prohibited in the event of heavy oral treatment (polytherapy, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, anticoagulants, etc.) because this plant can render drug treatment ineffective.
• Do not use at the same time as an oral contraceptive, it may cancel the effect.
• For external use only
• Adverse effects at high dose: Skin allergy, mild digestive disorders, sleep disorders.

STORAGE CONDITIONS

Keep it in the original bottle, away from air and light, at a temperature below 20C
