Botany:
Tarragon comes from central Asia, but the Greeks and Romans also used it to treat snakebites, toothache, plague and cholera. It is also a herb of choice for great French chefs. We owe it in particular the béarnaise sauce or tartare. This plant has branched stems and narrow leaves and is challenging to grow because it does not support wet soils in winter. The essential oil is used to make perfumes, liqueurs, soaps and cosmetics, but also for medicinal purposes.
